Marvel Comics has released five new STEAM variant covers in an attempt to promote some interest from their readers for mathematics and the sciences. Each of the covers represents five various themes relating to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics and will hit comic book stores in November.
Senior vice president of sales and marketing David Gabriel explained in a statement how Marvel has inspired fans throughout the years with brainy (and, yes, sexy) superhero characters such as Bruce Banner (a nuclear physicist), Tony Stark (a scientist and engineer), Peter Parker (a nerdy super genius) and Reed Richards (a scientific genius in many fields) as being beacons in the field of sciences. Spider-Man Miles Morales and Iron Man Ironheart Riri Williams are more recent examples of young, nerdy geniuses, and it's no wonder they are featured in two of the five covers.
“With our new STEAM variants, we plan to continue to motivate our fans to explore their passions in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math," said Gabriel, "and present these disciplines through some of our favorite young heroes who are doing just that – following their dreams and preparing for the challenges that await them ahead.”
