Marvel Comics made stunning revelations regarding some of its most popular titles in the midst of the highly anticipated Marvel Legacy #1 release.  Marvel announced the news in its handy magazine FOOM (Friends Of Ol' Marvel) for comic book retailers that U.S. Avengers and Uncanny Avengers conclude in December.

Avengers will become a weekly title that will start with Issue #165 in January 2018, according to the revived magazine that was popular with Marvel fans in the 1970s.

Creators from the U.S. Avengers team—Al Ewing and  Paco Medina—will join Mark Waid, Jim Zubb, Pepe Larraz, and Kim Jacinto on the "No Surrender" storyline that will kick off the weekly series Waid describes as "half celebration, half wake." It makes sense, since Marvel shared the Alex Ross cover art that features Thor, Rogue, Quicksilver, and the Vision in front of a golden memorial honoring the original Avengers founders.

"We've been keeping this a secret for so long," Jim Zubb said on his Facebook page. "At times it was maddening. Writing Marvel's flagship team as the biggest Marvel movie of all time prepares to drop. It's wonderful and utterly surreal."

It's not for certain if the weekly schedule will be ongoing when the "No Surrender" story wraps. But hopefully we'll have more details soon.

Marvel Legacy #1 and the first FOOM magazine will be available at comic book and digital retailers Wednesday.
