So the movie version of World War Z has finally been gearing up, announcing its cast and actually starting production. But now two of its better-known cast members have both dropped out of the film.
Although filming has already begun in Malta on the zombie epic based on Max Brooks' novel and starring Brad Pitt, Vulture reports that two actors reportedly signed to appear in the picture, Ed Harris (The Abyss) and Matthew Fox (Lost), have now both bailed. Fox apparently has a scheduling conflict with I, Alex Cross, a crime thriller starring Tyler Perry, while the reason for Harris' departure is not known.
The producers are auditioning actors now in London and New York to recast the roles, while Pitt and director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) will keep plugging along. Pitt is playing Brooks—a fictional version of him, anyway—as he travels around the world collecting survivors' accounts of a global zombie plague that brought civilization to a halt a decade earlier (the book is awesome, if you haven't read it).
World War Z is due out in 2012—as long as they can fill out the rest of the cast! Are you sorry to see Harris and Fox go? And who do you think could take their places?
