On this day in 1931, the Empire State Building opened in New York City. While that may not seem to be a huge sci-fi fact on the surface, it should be noted that the building has given us some of our greatest sci-fi moments.  And here, friends, is a collection of YouTube clips featuring the monument. Most of them are King Kong, and the last one is of questionable quality.

King Kong (1933)

King Kong (1976)

Superman 2 (1980)

Independence Day (1996)

King Kong (2005)

Oblivion (2013)

What’d we miss, team?
