May 31 in Sci-Fi History: Colin and Brooke and Clint

On this day in 1976, Colin Farrell was born in Ireland.

Since then, he's taken on some pretty impressive gigs, but sci-fi specific we've got Total Recall (the 2012 one), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Lobster, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Minority Report – he knows his stuff.

Pay particular attention to Total Recall, because more on that tomorrow …

Also celebrating birthdays today are Clint Eastwood (born on this day in, whoa, 1930) and Brooke Shields (born this day in 1965). These are sort of sci-fi adjacent actors, though Eastwood's work in Firefox is pretty spectacular. He also, weirdly, had a very small role at the beginning of his career in Revenge of the Creature (1955), the sequel to Creature From the Black Lagoon.

Brooke Shields is also a little left-of-center for us, though she did voice a few characters in both Justice League and The Batman animated series. She did an episode of Quantum Leap (of course) and did, if you'll recall, play the title role in 1988's Brenda Starr, in which a comic book character comes to life.

Tomorrow: Totally Total Recall.
