Based on the 2011 novel by Daniel H. Wilson, Robopocalypse was due to be Steven Spielberg's next epic sci-fi flick, but it's currently stuck on pause due to screenplay and budget concerns. Starring Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway, it details a catastrophic robot uprising of A.I. insanity. Here's some stunning storyboard art depicting a key action sequence in the script, written by Drew Goddard (World War Z, Cabin in the Woods, Cloverfield).
The art, drawn by Michael Anthony Jackson, depicts a stampede of insectoid Mechwolves, exo-skeletal cyborgs and human soldiers fleeing through a forest.
Here's the unofficial synopsis:
In the future, robots have been created to serve Mankind. Archos, the 14° version of an advanced Artificial Intelligence developed by the U.S. government, continuously deleted for displaying hostility towards humans, escapes from being destroyed and soon becomes a virus, downloading itself into every piece of A.I.-controlled technology in the planet, leading to a worldwide robot uprising where the humans caught in the chaos struggle to survive.
With Spielberg dropping his Navy SEAL biopic, American Sniper, rabid robo-fans were hoping this dropped project would be his next creation, but no word yet on its resurrection.
Until then, dream on and indulge yourselves with these amazing images.
