Meet the new companion Bill in first trailer for Moffat's final season of Doctor Who

We’re still basking in the glory of Doctor Who’s annual Christmas episode, and now we have our first proper look at Season 10.

The trailer is framed the perspective of new companion Bill (played by Pearl Mackie), who used to serve chips — until she met the Doctor (who is lecturing at a college for some reason?) and started traveling around though all of space and time in the TARDIS. Which she thinks looks kind of like a kitchen. After spending the past few seasons with familiar companions, it’s actually kind of refreshing to see this world through the lens of a brand-new character with fresh eyes.

As for what the new season will feature, it certainly sounds like the Daleks will be a major component. There’s also a decent bit of Little Britain‘s Matt Lucas in his supporting role, and at least judging by the costumes, we’ll be jumping around through both space and a few different time periods (aka the vintage Who formula). As longtime showrunner Steven Moffat prepares to wrap up his run, he looks to be going back to the tried and true elements of the franchise. Which is about the best way we can imagine to say goodbye.

Season 10 of Doctor Who debuts in April on BBC America.
