Though the big-screen version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may be on hold, a new CGI animated series based on the heroes with a half shell is moving full steam ahead—and we finally have our first good look at it.
Set to air on Nickelodeon this fall, the new series looks to be a solid mix of slapstick and action, which is par for the course with most of the other adaptations. The animation definitely looks slick, and this thing should at least be fun to watch.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show's producer said he tried to approach the Turtles in a new way—so he's treating them like the Beatles.
"I tried to boil it down and get to really what's at the core of it, which is this sense of brothers and camaraderie," executive producer Ciro Neili said. "Everything grew out of that. It's like a band. You want a Beatles thing."Here's how the network describes the series:

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a fictional team of four human/turtle hybrids, who were trained by their human/rat hybrid sensei in the art of ninjutsu and named after four Renaissance artists. From their home in the storm sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil megalomaniacs and alien invaders, all while remaining isolated from society at large.
