Metallo, Livewire and more Supergirl villains to return in 2017

The Maiden of Might is about to come face to face with some familiar baddies when Supergirl returns in 2017. Fan favorites Livewire (Brit Morgan) and Metallo (Frederick Schmidt) will return to duke it out with Kara (Melissa Benoist) when the CW's high-flying superhero series returns in the New Year.

Livewire, real name Leslie Willis, first appeared on Supergirl during the show’s first season where the unstable CatCo employee went after Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) after an accident transformed her into a super-powered, electricity-wielding villain. The character returned for the Supergirl/Flash crossover episode “Worlds Finest” that saw Livewire team up with Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci) to take down the Girl of Steel and the Scarlet Speedster (Grant Gustin).

As for Metallo, the Kryptonite-fueled supervillain formerly known as John Corben first made a splash in the two-episode Season 2 premiere where the DC Comics villain battled Kara and her cousin Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). First hired to kill Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) by her brother Lex, the assassin-for-hire was then turned into a cyborg by Project Cadmus to take down the Kryptonian cousins. Let’s just say, he didn’t succeed in that task either.

But that’s not all. According to executive producer Ali Adler, there will be other “fan-favorite” villains popping up in National City this season, but it’s way too early to reveal who they are. What do you guys think? Who else do you want to see return on Supergirl? Tune in to the Kevin Smith-directed midseason premiere "Supergirl Lives" on Jan. 23.
