IDW's Micronauts series was one of the many bright spots of the San Diego-based indie publisher's brimming roster of colorful titles. Written by Cullen Bunn, with art by David Baldeon and Max Dunbar, it's a wild romp through the doomed Microverse adapted from the popular Mego toy line of the late '70s. Micronauts is poised to play a major roll in Hasbro's Cinematic Universe and was a huge component of IDW's successful Revolution crossover event of 2016.

Micronauts' main baddie is the menacing black robot, Baron Karza, who, having failed to stop the devastating Entropy Cloud, has his glowing eyes set on our precious planet Earth. IDW is moving the malevolent Microverse leader into the spotlight this April with Micronauts: Wrath of Karza, a fresh series featuring Baron Karza and his confrontations with Earth Defense.

This new 5-issue mini-series will be written by Micronauts veteran Cullen Bunn with Jimmy Johnston and pencils by acclaimed Transformers artist Andrew Griffith, positioning the ruthless Karza against the Micronauts and a cool cadre of Revolution heroes including the Transformers, G.I. Joe, Action Man, M.A.S.K. and ROM.

Bunn spoke with Newsarama about this new Micronauts venture and how the Baron will deal with the citizens of Earth:

"Jimmy and I have been seeding the events of this series in recent issues of Micronauts. You've seen dire, prophetic warnings about Baron Karza's invasion. You've seen some of his soldiers appearing here and there on Earth. This is the culmination of events that have been playing out since the beginning of the series. That said, I think any reader will be able to pick this up and follow the story pretty easily as long as they can accept the idea of alien invaders trying to conquer Earth.

"Going back to when I was a kid, Baron Karza was probably my second favorite villain, right after Darth Vader. This is before I had ever read a story about him. I was a fan of Baron Karza from the very first commercial I saw for his action figure. He's cold and warlike and wants to rule with an iron fist, but he does all these things for the good of his people. He genuinely believes they will be better off because of his rule.""

IDW's Micronauts: Wrath of Karza #1 will invade comic shops in April and Syfy Wire will bring you an exclusive preview when the first interior art arrives.
