While the official trailer dropped in the days leading up to E3 2017, that didn't mean Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to the hit Shadow of Mordor, was sitting the show out. Indeed, we got seven minutes of all-new gameplay at the Xbox E3 briefing, plus a new trailer focused on a badass female assassin.
In the footage, shown during the Xbox showcase, we see the expansion of the Nemesis system, as Talion and Celebrimbor are back, this time building entire armies of Orc soldiers, instead of just acquiring individuals or warlords. We meet Bruz the Chopper; after a fight and a domination, Bruz gets downright cheery. "Bright Lord, Dark Lord, same thing, really," he says. And thus, a twitter phenomenon was born. Now, there's some other fights, a look at the huge world of the game, and finally, a look at your Orc army, ready to storm a fortress. Also, the Talion/Bruz buddy-cop dynamic is just too much fun.
The second video released focuses on Eltariel, the Blade of Galadriel. Talion wakes up from, you know, dying, and meets Eltariel. She's an assassin for the elfs, carries the light of Galadriel with her, and most notably, can see Celebrimbor. She's tough, but willing to help -- on her own terms. Looks like this will be an "unlikely alliance" indeed.
Check out the second trailer below, and get ready to return to Mordor in Shadow of War, out October 10, 2017 on Xbox One, PS4, and Windows 10.
