Netflix’s upcoming Defenders miniseries brings all the Marvel streaming shows together, and Luke Cage himself has revealed there may have been a few connections that were there all along — we just missed them.

Mike Colter told TV Guide that viewers will come to realize the events in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and (ugh) Iron Fist might’ve been more connected than we ever realized. And it all seems to come back to the series’ new villain Alexandra, played by sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver. It makes sense they’d find a way to connect Alexandra to the wider narrative, and considering a whole lot of these shows featured the Hand in some capacity, we’ll be curious to see how she ties in.

Here’s an excerpt from his comments:

"The villains that we’re dealing with are a combination of several entities, um, and they all have something to do with our separate stories that have played out in each of our own individual series.  So this has been going on for a while. It wasn’t obvious in each individual series, but in this series you’ll find out that the things that happened to all of us basically were all because of one entity and that’s what’s gonna kind of tie things together and then we’ll see that, we’ll understand that, and before you know it, eventually we’ll fight together... or not.”

What’s your theory for how Alexandra fits into all this? We already know an undead Elektra will be back, but who is Alexandra?
