With the fifth movie coming out this fall, the end of the franchise may be in sight, and star Milla Jovovich says she knows how it will all come to a close.
And why shouldn't she? After all, aside from starring as Alice in all four previous Resident Evil pics, Jovovich is the life partner of writer/producer/director Paul W.S. Anderson, who has been the caretaker of the franchise since the very beginning. And Jovovich, who's always a lively presence on panels, said today at the Comic-Con presentation for Total Recall: Retribution that when they're sitting around at home, Anderson likes to outline where he sees the story going.
That future could actually include a Resident Evil story where Alice doesn't appear. Jovovich said that just because she and Anderson are together, that doesn't dictate what direction the series should take. But Anderson himself said that "the end is in sight" for the franchise, with perhaps one more movie to go after this one. He also mentioned that Retribution features "a lot of revelations and a lot of death."
If anyone is going to be the first person to know how all this is going to play out, it should be the woman who stars in the films and also happens to share Anderson's bed, right?
