There’ve been rumblings of a fifth Indiana Jones film for a while now. Did a random cinematography report just accidentally confirm it's moving forward?
A cinematographer wrap-up at Variety dropped a potential bombshell bit of information, noting that veteran cinematographer Janusz Kaminski's (Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan) next project is Indiana Jones 5 with Steven Spielberg. Wait, what?
Here’s the choice excerpt below:
Since then, Kaminski has made more than a dozen films with Steven Spielberg, earning two Oscars along the way. His credits include “Schindler’s List,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Diving Bell & the Butterfly.” His next project is the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie.
So, is it true? We’d take it with a grain of salt at the moment, though it stands to reason Spielberg would tap Kaminski if they ever do get another Indiana Jones off the ground. Despite the mediocrity of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the Indiana Jones property still has a boatload of cachet.
There’ve been rumors off and on ever since Crystal Skull that a sequel is in the works, be it a straight-up continuation or a reboot with a younger actor in the title role. Regardless, this Kaminski report is one more puff of smoke where there could be a fire.
What do you think? Is Indiana Jones 5 on the verge of ramping up?
