Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller is hatching his show about a young Hannibal Lecter—before he ended up in a mental institution and before he helped Clarice Starling catch a serial killer—but now another network is mining the Silence of the Lambs universe for another TV show.
Lifetime is just beginning to develop Clarice, which would follow Clarice Starling just after she graduates from the FBI academy and begins her career. We got something of a taste of that in Thomas Harris' book Hannibal, which picks up seven years after the events of The Silence of the Lambs ... and that does make for seven years' worth of stories to tell.
Fuller's Hannibal series (which already got a 13-episode order from NBC) deals with a pre-Silence Dr. Lecter and, as such, doesn't feature Starling as a character—instead, it deals with FBI agent WIll Graham (Hugh Dancy), who finds himself working alongside the titular killer, solving crimes together ... when one of them isn't off eating people, of course.
