Quick—better clear some garage space for this baby! The iconic George Barris-built Batmobile hits the auction block in January and would sure look pretty sitting inside. Here's how to join the mad scramble ...
It's the holy grail of TV supercars and probably the most recognized pop-culture toy ever created. Want it? Hell yes!
Designed and customized by the great George Barris for ABC's 1966-68 Batman television series starring Adam West, this radical ride started life as a wild 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car before going under the welder's torch and spray gun to become the gadget-equipped crime-fighting cruiser of choice for the Dynamic Duo.
Barrett-Jackson Auction Company will offer the original Batmobile #1 at its 42nd annual Scottsdale, Ariz., event in January. Packing a stout, 390-cubic-inch V-8 powerplant, the famous black beauty is expected to cross the block on Saturday, Jan. 19, sometime between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m.
It's been a beloved part of Barris' personal collection since 1965 and will no doubt pull in some stratospheric bids. To get in on the action, visit Barrett-Jackson here to register by Dec. 10.
So set your alarm and smash those piggy banks, kids. Come on, who needs a Cobra or a 'Cuda when you can score THE Batmobile for a cool million or more?
