Scientist and host of National Geographic's StarTalk, Neil Degrasse Tyson is pretty much the king of science geekery. Now the king has proclaimed to all of the land which is the more powerful ship, Star Trek's Enterprise or Star Wars' Millennium Falcon. King Neil saith: the Enterprise.
“The Enterprise has the benefit of being real, in the sense that there are real scientists and real engineers on staff on the ship monitoring its engines, its warp drives, its photon torpedoes. So it’s fake-real, as opposed to the Millennium Falcon, which is fake-fake.”
He also appreciates the Enterprise for its purpose. It was the first ship in science fiction designed solely for exploration.
Once upon a time, back in the dark days of fandom, minor skirmishes were fought between fans of Star Trek and Star Wars, each one claiming superiority over the other. (Let’s not forget that at that point Star Trek was solely a TV series and Star Wars was solely a movie.) King Neil has put to rest the struggle that cost many a fan their ego.
Unfortunately, King Neil did not weigh in on the other debate, as to which is more powerful, the Enterprise ... or the Death Star. We await our king’s proclamation.
