Netflix’s upcoming Black Mirror revival series has nabbed another high-profile director.
According to Deadline, Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) will helm an episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror revival of the critically acclaimed UK series. The director is joining a list that currently includes Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna) and Jakob Verbruggen (House of Cards). With 12 episodes slated, I wonder who else will join this growing list of interesting directors.
The original Channel 4 anthology series (there are seven episodes total spread over two seasons, including an extended holiday special) that showed the dark side of life and technology and often ended with a Twilight Zone type of twist. The series was made up of standalone episodes featuring an entirely new cast, setting, plot and director for each and every one of them.
Created and written by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror nabbed an international Emmy Award, a Peabody Award and a Rose D’Or and was even nominated for a BAFTA. Not bad, eh? Brooker and Annabel Jones, who executive-produced the first seven episodes of the series, are back on exec-producing duties and will also serve as showrunners for the new series written by Brooker.
Last year, Netflix ordered 12 new episodes, with Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Malachi Kirby (Doctor Who, Jekyll & Hyde) and Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness) recently confirmed to star in some of the new eps of the revival series.
What do you think of the cast and crew so far for Netflix’s Black Mirror series?
