John Carpenter's The Thing just celebrated its 35th birthday on June 25, and we did some celebrating with our tribute videos and anniversary retrospective on the chilling sci-fi horror classic. Now it looks like Arrow Video will be keeping the party going, as they're putting the polish on a remastered 4K Ultra-HD home video release that will bring the terrors of Outpost 31 into crystal clarity.

This new complete restoration is sweet music to my ears as a rabid fan of The Thing, the best and most provocatively petrifying of all Carpenter's films.

Offered in either deluxe Steelbook or special Limited Edition packaging, they're each limited to 4,000 units and showcase the freshly restored 4K transfer (from the original film negative), supervised by John Carpenter and director of photography Dean Cundey.

Right now this is an exclusive U.K. release dropping on October 23, but an American version should be announced soon.
