Need I say there are some mild spoilers below?
Ahead of Doctor Strange’s hotly anticipated North American premiere this coming Friday, Marvel has debuted a new promo featuring our first glimpse at one of the Sorcerer Supreme’s greatest enemies.
The promo starts with star Benedict Cumberbatch introducing the idea of the Multiverse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, keep your eyes peeled, because at around the 41-seconds mark, we have a blink-or-you’ll miss-it (so don’t blink) first look at the MCU version of Dormammu! Who was apparently mo-capped by Cumberbatch, himself.
The villain appears very briefly twice in the nearly one-minute-long promo, but instead of seeing him in all his fiery glory, we only see a pair of purple eyes burning with cold fire. They’ve also unveiled a new promo featuring the Cloak of Levitation, which, by the way, totally has a mind of its own (And it gave rise to a funny scene). Take a look below, and let us know what you think.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilising a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
Directed by Scott Derrikson (Sinister), Doctor Strange also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Karl Mordo, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West and Benjamin Bratt. The movie opens on Nov. 4.
