Filming on the Fantastic Four reboot is underway now, but we might be getting our first look at the movie and the team in just two weeks.
An inside source has told Screenrant that the five principal cast members from the Josh Trank-directed movie -- Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm), Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm) and Toby Kebbell (Victor von Doom) -- will fly into San Diego from the set in Louisiana to make their first public appearance together at Comic-Con ... and maybe, just maybe, show off some footage from the production.
It would be a smart call on the part of the studio, 20th Century Fox, to do that: After all, Fantastic Four comes out next June (June 19, to be exact), and this will be the movie's one and only chance to make a tremendous and arguably crucial first impression on the people it most needs to win over at the year's biggest and most important geek culture event.
Now, shortly after Screenrant posted its story, Fox announced its Comic-Con schedule -- and while the studio's Hall H presentation included films like Book of Life, The Maze Runner, Kingsman: The Secret Service and others, Fantastic Four was conspicuously absent. So if I were a betting man, I would lay down a few bucks that Marvel's First Family will be the surprise guests at the end.
There's precedent for this from Fox: At last year's Hall H blowout, the studio brought out the entire cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past -- all 257 of them. Five actors seems like a breeze, doesn't it?
Fox's presentation will take place this year on Friday, July 25, at 4:20 p.m. You think we'll see the Fantastic Four there?
