The cast for writer/director Josh Boone's New Mutants is filling up rather quickly now. After the initial confirmation of Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik and Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, the film has reportedly added Rosario Dawson as Cecilia Reyes and Charlie Heaton as Cannonball. Now, it's time for another New Mutant to join the fray.

Boone confirmed via his Instagram page Thursday that Brazilian actor Henry Zaga has joined the film as Roberto "Bobby" da Costa, aka Sunspot.

Sunspot is named for his ability to absorb solar energy and power up into an all-black form possessing superhuman strength, though his power-set was later also augmented to include energy blasts (I'm betting Boone's stripped-down formula for the film will give us a Bobby with fewer powers). A founding member of the New Mutants, he's also multilingual, a world-class athlete and, eventually, a successful businessman, pilot and swordsman. He's pretty cool, and he knows it. His self-assured and often hot-headed nature often contrasts him with fellow New Mutant Cannonball, though their friendship is one of the core dynamics of the team.

Zaga's only been acting for a short while, but he's climbing the ladder fast. He's best known to American audiences for a guest role on Teen Wolf and as one of the stars of the young adult-driven Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. Now he's adding a superhero franchise to his short-but-impressive resume.

So, that's four essential New Mutants added to the cast. Now we just have to wait to find out who'll play Dani Moonstar.

New Mutants arrives April 13, 2018.
