Fox is keen to double (and triple) down on its X-Men license, especially since Fantastic Four is bordering on toxic these days. The latest entry? New Mutants.
Josh Boone, who is attached to write a direct a New Mutants film, has posted a look at the unfinished script on Instagram. Of course, you can’t actually read anything on the pages, but it’s a tangible reminder the studio is serious to get a whole new team of mutants assembled to keep the franchise rolling. Contracts are up on pretty much everyone in the First Class-era cast, while the original X-Men cast has been around for 15 years now.
Fox is looking to the future, and along with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Channing Tatum’s Gambit, the New Mutants will also be carrying the torch (apparently). No word on exactly which direction they're going, though we'd imagine this will certainly focus on a new cast and team of young mutants. Considering how quickly the studio is moving on X-Men: Apocalypse and everything else in between, we’d imagine this one will also be well on its way to the fast track once the script is tight.
Check out the script shot below and let us know what you think:

There’s no release date yet, but New Mutants is tentatively set to open in 2018.
