The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that lovers of Showtime's gothic monster mashup will have something else to cheer about besides Penny Dreadful's third season coming this spring, with a fresh new comic book series from Titan Comics. Written by Penny Dreadful staff writers Chris King, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and Andrew Hinderaker, with artwork by Louie De Martinis (Heavy Metal), the horror title will wander into the same gas-lit corners of Victorian England as the lurid series and will chronicle the further adventures of Ethan, Vanessa, Sir Malcolm, Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and other familiar characters. Titan is well-known for its excellent comic-book adaptations of popular genre shows like Doctor Who, The Blacklist and Heroes Reborn.
"This incredibly exciting new comic series is going to captivate fans of horror, literature and Penny Dreadful alike, giving them a whole new insight into the lives of the fascinating, even bewitching, characters," Lizzie Kaye, editor of the Titan comic, told THR.
There's no official title selected yet and the supernatural plotlines are still being manifested and mined for their potential in the comic book universe. Penny Dreadful returns for its third season in May of 2016. Is this new comic book adaptation announcement something that has you speaking in tongues or is it torturous news?
