While we have to wait until the spring of 2017 before we finally get a new (and full) Doctor Who series, the beloved BBC sci-fi show will return for its annual Yuletide special with “The Return of Doctor Mysterio” on Christmas Day.
BBC America has released a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Xmas special taking place in New York City, which'll feature the titular Doctor Mysterio, a Clark Kent-like superhero (complete with black-rimmed glasses) played by Justin Chatwin (Dragonball: Evolution, Orphan Black).
The video features an interview with showrunner Steven Moffat, who talks aboout his favorite superhero: Clark Kent. “Where I think superheroes are at their best, is in the secret identity. The most exciting superhero of all time is Clark Kent. He has to be a god and pretend he isn’t. It’s the best story ever,” Moffat said.
The sneak peek also includes Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi chatting about the special, and we have a look at the return of last year's Xmas special's (“The Husbands of River Song”) fan favorite character Nardole (Matt Lucas), with his head attached back to his body! The character is said to be a regular presence when Season 10 rolls around with the Doctor’s new companion, Bill (Pearl Mackie).
