If you were wondering what the second Walking Dead series would be about, here are your first details.
AMC's is having so much luck with zombie hordes that it's adding a second show focusing on the undead to its roster. Turns out the show will take place prior to (as opposed to concurrent with) the current season of The Walking Dead. But what will it be about?
There’s increasing buzz that the offshoot will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.
And that suits us fine. The current Walking Dead series is wrapped up in its own mythology, constantly having to choose between borrowing and diverging from its comic source. So the idea of a show that tells its own story about a world on the brink rather than beyond it has a real appeal.
Watching our modern conveniences vanish one by one (or all at once), having hospitals fill with the soon-to-be-undead, and having characters all of whom could die at any moment would make for a nice companion to the melodrama-heavy Walking Dead.
But that's just us. What do you think? is this the spinoff you hoped for, or did you have something else in mind?
