We don’t have to worry about Fox blowing the big secrets within The X-Files’ revival season, but we do have a tantalizing new teaser to keep us guessing.
The studio has tweaked that original teaser clip to include some fresh footage, which gives us our first dialogue between Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). Again, it ain’t much, but considering we’ve already waited a decade for this franchise to return to the small screen — we’ll take it.
We see Mulder ask: “Are you ready for this, Scully?” Then a tense Scully responds: “I don’t know there’s a choice.” What are they talking about? Who knows. But, if we had to guess, we’d imagine this clip possibly comes from early in the new season as the duo joins up for a new case. Or maybe those lines were just a nice tonal fit for the teaser and it has nothing to do with that.
A few things we do know: The six-episode season will likely be an even mix of mythology episodes and monster-of-the-week tales, and the Lone Gunmen are back in action. Bringing back the Lone Gunmen is a bold move, and the show's creator, Chris Carter, is really aiming to make the fans happy with this one. After the disappointing debacle that was 2008’s film sequel I Want To Believe, that’s a good sign. We don’t want pandering, but we do want closure.
