The weather forecast in Manhattan just took a severe turn for the worse as an arctic blast of shocking swiftness just descended on the Big Apple. Well, at least in this hilarious new Geostorm Taxi prank video by filmmaker Michael Krivicka.

Geostorm, the new eco-disaster flick starring Gerard Butler, strikes this Friday, October 20 and Warner Bros. reached out to Krivicka to promote some sort of weather-related tie-in project. The result is worth a blizzard of laughs as unsuspecting taxi-goers receive some dire warnings via a fake newscast aboard their taxi, then drive into a wild, wintry scene complete with frozen pedestrians, ice-crusted city workers, and petrified pets.

Krivicka explained how this "ultra-cool" short came to be after the studio reached out to him a few months ago. He said they immediately wanted to do a weather prank after seeing the trailer, and "played with different variations of the scenario until [they] settled on the taxi idea." He explained: "We thought that would be the most effective way to do: you get into a cab in summer and end up in winter. We've done a lot of elaborate pranks in the past, but changing the weather definitely took things up a notch."

He said it took weeks of preparation and location scouting to pull it off, along with collaboration with local shops and vendors. But, in the end, it was all worth it to see those people flipping out: "Detail was key and the whole thing had to look super realistic from close distance."

This is the latest in a series of major studio promo videos Krivicka and his crew have delivered, having also produced Sony's awesome "Spiderman Grabs A Coffee" gag this past summer, and the "Samara Comes To Life" prank for Rings earlier this year.

Have a look at the video and exclusive BTS stills below and tell us if you'd fall for the prank if you were cruising in the crafty cab!
