Scarier Apollo 18 trailer uses real NASA footage to creep us out

The folks behind Apollo 18 won't stop until they scare you silly! In a last-ditch marketing effort, the Weinstein Company has unveiled a new trailer for the film just four days before its release.

Apollo 18 is The Blair Witch Project meets Apollo 13, except Tom Hanks and Ron Howard are nowhere in sight. It's a sci-fi flick that takes a page out of the "found footage" book of horrors.

In 1972, Apollo 17 was supposedly the last manned moon mission to head into space. But according to this trailer, that's a lie! Two years later, Apollo 18 was conceived and executed, even though NASA denies it ever took place. Now, why would they do something like that?

Thanks to the grainy production footage and questionable cinematography, we should be shaking in our boots at the prospect of "uncovering the truth." What really happened out there, and why is the government trying so hard to cover it up? Cue the dramatic music!

Apollo 18 opens in theaters Sept. 2.
