All of the drama surrounding the fate of The Walking Dead's writing staff has, at least, yielded this bit of good news: Powers, based on Brian Michael Bendis' award-winning comic, is finally getting off the ground at FX with one of the zombie hit's architects on board.
Executive producer Charles "Chic" Eglee was Frank Darabont's right hand during the first season of The Walking Dead but left in the well-reported writer exodus. But Eglee seems to have landed on his feet: The veteran of shows like NYPD Blue and The Shield is in talks to join FX's adaptation of Powers, based on Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's long-running comic about beat cops in a world filled with superheroes.
Bendis himself even tweeted confirmation: "OK, I rarely do this, but the Powers TV rumor that hit the net today...confirmed as fact!"
Powers is in the very early stages of development, so we won't see the adventures of detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim anytime soon. But any progress toward more comics on TV is good progress.
