"Fight for redemption. Fight for family." AMC has unleashed the first action-packed trailer for the upcoming second season of Into the Badlands.
The "genre-bending martial arts series" created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar stars Daniel Wu (who recently scored a role in the Tomb Raider reboot alongside Alicia Vikander) in the role of Sunny, a former Clipper who now finds himself beyond the Badlands and in a very difficult predicament (being a mining slave and all that). But that won't stop our warrior from trying to make his way back to his family.
The 10-episode second season also sees the Widow (Emily Beacham) trying to consolidate her power against the other Barons with the help of Waldo (Stephen Lang), while M.K. (Aramis Knight) is now apparently training (no doubt to learn discipline and how to harness his powers) with the monks that took him during last season's explosive finale.
The trailer features a kickass introduction to Nick Frost's character, Bajie, a mining slave who'll also become Sunny's traveling companion ('cause the two are chained together). Being a big fan of the first season (those fight scenes were simply amazing), I’m very excited about the show’s return and can't wait to follow Sunny, M.K. and the Widow on their Season 2 journeys.
Read up on the official Season 2 synopsis:
Into the Badlands Season 2 finds Sunny (Daniel Wu) and M.K. (Aramis Knight) separated and scattered to the wind, each imprisoned in unlikely places. While M.K. struggles to control his powers, Sunny is determined to fight his way back into the Badlands to find his family or die trying. On their journey, Clipper and Colt are assisted by mysterious new allies whose motivations may be anything but pure. Meanwhile, The Widow (Emily Beecham) continues to consolidate power against the other Barons while a dark and mysterious threat prepares to exact revenge on them all. Alliances are struck, friendships betrayed and, by season's end, Sunny and M.K.'s lives will be forever altered with devastating consequences.
Into the Badlands will premiere on March 19 at 10:00 p.m. on AMC.
