For a while there it seemed like X-Men: Days of Future Past star James McAvoy (Xavier) spilled a big casting scoop—but now it looks like we might be one mutant down for Bryan Singer’s sequel.
While recapping a list of his potential co-stars, McAvoy mentioned Alan Cumming (NIghtcrawler) among the cast list. It was the first time, besides the rumor mill, that we’d actually heard any confirmation that Cumming could be a part of the project.
But the comment was news to Cumming, who later told Sirius XM he hasn’t heard anything out of Singer’s camp:
“No, they haven’t [asked me to return]. Someone asked me that the other day and I said no. I know the one that’s coming up shoots this Spring, but I wouldn’t be available anyways. I dont think they have. I was gonna meet my manager for dinner later, I was gonna ask him, but no, I’m sure they would’ve told me, had they approached.”
Here’s hoping Singer does reach out to Cumming, because Nightcrawler was a major player with the X-Men during the early-1980s comic era when Days of Future Past was written. Plus, he was one of the better parts of X-Men 2, and it’d be nice for him to get an invite.
What do you think? Do you hope Nightcrawler has a part in the sequel?
