First off, I would just like to say that I was skeptical about Disney's new Christopher Robin film, in which a grown-up Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) is reunited with his childhood bear-friend. And then the Pooh voice (legendary actor Jim Cummings) I love and remembered well came out of that CGI bear's mouth and, well, this film has got my money now.

Today's links run the gamut from thoughtful writing to impassioned (and correct) defenses:

- Jane the Virgin is not a guilty pleasure. (The New Yorker)
- On the “male glance” and how we fail to take women’s stories seriously. (The Guardian)
- Director Rachel Talalay on Doctor Who, #MeToo and why Gallifrey is done waiting. (Den of Geek)
- The Oscars: one small step forward, two steps back? (29Secrets)
