Some birthdays. Pretty big ones. Of a wide variety of badass sci-fi and fantasy actor types. All on this day in sci-fi history. First up:

Carrie Fisher, born in Burbank on this day in 1956, the daughter of Hollywood legends Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, and was absolutely everything. From Princess Leia to General Leia:

From Hanna and Her Sisters to guest spots in Scream 3:

Today is also the birthday of Ken Watanabe. Born in Koide, Niigata, Japan, Watanabe would go on to win a Japanese Academy Award for his role as an Alzheimer’s patient in Ashita no Kioku (Memories of Tomorrow). Western audiences mostly became aware of him in 2003’s The Last Samurai.

He was also a pretty badass part of Batman Begins.

Finally, today is also the birthday of actor Matt Dallas. Supremely underrated, handsome like crazy, and an all-around nice person, Dallas was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on this day in 1982. He was Kyle XY, team:

He also runs a badass YouTube channel with his husband and son.

Tomorrow:  Fester, The Fly, Torchwood.
