October 9 in Sci-Fi History: Fantasy dude birthdays

Contributed by

A collection of science fiction and fantasy dude birthdays today, team. Starting with the biggest one -- it was on this day in 1964 that Guillermo del Toro was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He's made so many good movies.

Hellboy (2004)

Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)

Crimson Peak (2015)

Another big birthday today? Scott Bakula, born on this day in 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri. He’s been an actor a long time, played Captain Archer on Star Trek: Enterprise, but his most famous (Emmy nominated!) role was for Quantum Leap.

Brandon Routh was also born in Iowa on this day in 1979. He was Superman once.

And finally, Tony Shalhoub, who was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on this day in 1953. He's played a ton of sci-fi roles in movies like Men in Black, Spy Kids, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but his best role is definitely in Galaxy Quest.

Tomorrow: "Come closer, Pretty Pretty."
