In the wake of Once Upon a Time’s rather fun and romance-filled season-three finale -- though can't poor Regina (Lana Parrilla) ever catch a break in the romance department? -- creators and showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz teased a bit of what would be coming up in season four for a certain particular hookup.
(See what we did there? Moving on.)
The season ended strong, with Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) finally realizing after three seasons that she had a home in Storybrooke with her parents Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas), as well as with son Henry (Jared Gilmore) and new little brother Prince Neal.
Not only that, but Emma finally opened herself up to a possible happily-ever-after ending with that devilishly handsome rapscallion-pirate-turned-hero Captain Hook (Colin O’ Donoghue, and you can read Blastr's exclusive interview with him here).
But will things go smoothly for the brand-new couple in the next season? Or will their happiness be cut short in good ol' storytelling fashion? This is what Edward Kitsis told TV Guide:
“It would be a lot easier for me and Adam to just write Emma and Hook go out to dinner, then come home and decide whether or not to watch Orphan Black or catch up on Game of Thrones. It would be a great hour. We're hoping there's some drama and crisis next year.”
Though we’d love to see that, we’re well aware that any good love story needs a bit of drama to make it oh-so-interesting. Will Shakespeare did say that the course of true love never did run smooth. And it makes for some great (if frustrating) TV, as well. Still, does A&E plan to explore Emma’s relationship with Killian "Hook" Jones, and what it’s like to be with him? Kitsis says yes, with Horowitz adding:
“What we saw in the finale was the beginning of something, which could go in many different ways and many different avenues down which they could go. It's not like they're going to suddenly go to order Chinese and watch Netflix. There's going to be some challenges ahead and we're going to have to show you some surprises about where the two of them go.”
Well, bring it on. After all, it can’t all be smooth sailing for Captain Swan. What do you guys think about Emma and Hook as a couple?
