There have been rumblings for a while now that Joss Whedon has found his Scarlet Witch for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now it sounds like Samuel L. Jackson just confirmed it.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jackson (Nick Fury) was asked how the Avengers sequel was coming along. He hasn’t seen a script yet (we’d guess Whedon is still cranking it out), but noted he’s looking forward to working with new cast members James Spader (Ultron) and Elizabeth Olsen.
Last we’d heard, Olsen (Silent House, Liberal Arts) was up for the role of Scarlet Witch, but it hadn’t been confirmed — until now. In classic Jackson fashion, he apparently let the cat out of the bag a little early.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
"I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we're shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven't seen a script."
Jackson also opened up about his surprise cameo in the latest episode of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where he said the stinger clip essentially worked like similar shoots in the film series:
“I’m still playing the same guy, it’s the same process. I just show up and they turn the cameras on and we do it.”
