Outlander, Starz's time-traveling historical drama, is finally back this weekend for its third season. That means the stars are making the rounds on talk shows this week to discuss the show and its much-anticipated return.

Caitriona Balfe, who stars as the time-displaced nurse Claire, swung by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Thursday night, and while the chatter was lively and funny and charming, it did not center on the show's writing or acting or costume design. No, it centered on what everyone thinks about when they think of Outlander: the sex scenes.

"Your show has been hailed as having some of the best sex on television," Colbert said, who then went on to ask Balfe why she thinks those particular scenes are so effective.

"Is it because your character's a nurse and knows her way around?" he asked.

In truth, Outlander does indeed have some of the best sex scenes on television right now, in terms of both execution and their function in the story. Just ask any fan of the series. This discussion came as part of a talk show airing on a major broadcast network, though, so Balfe had to keep it simple.

"She's great with anatomy," Balfe said. "And the men wear kilts. It's easy access, I guess."

For extra fun, Colbert also pointed out that Claire is technically cheating on her 20th-century husband. To which Balfe replied: "He's not born yet!"

Check out the full interview, including a fun discussion of Balfe's terrible driving habits, below. Outlander returns Sunday on Starz.
