As a rule, robots in disguise are traditionally extremely impatient, so it's no huge surprise that Paramount launched a deep pass into the end zone by delivering an early peek at the Super Bowl trailer for Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight.

This latest preview is only the 30-second version of the full 60-second extended trailer that will air on Sunday, so this is simply an ample appetizer for the longer promo due this weekend. Still, we gotta dissect its short but sweet awesomeness, with Anthony Hopkins narrating and asking questions about why Autobots and Decepticons keep returning to Earth, the mighty Grimlock erupting up from the asphalt (!) and Optimus Prime and Bumblebee engaging in an epic brawl.

Written by Iron Man's Art Marcum and Matt Holloway with Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), the time-twisting storyline involves Optimus Prime returning to Earth after discovering a ruined Cyberton and seeking a mysterious artifact (Excalibur? The Holy Grail?) tied to King Arthur and his legendary sorcerer, Merlin, in medieval England. There's also a strong rumor (backed up by some vague imagery in the first trailer) that we'll see the planet-swallowing Unicron.

Have a peek and tell us if you're powered up for this installment of Paramount's powerhouse.

Here's the official synopsis:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Isabella Moner, Stanley Tucci and John Turturro, Transformers: The Last Knight thunders into theaters on June 23.
