Peanuts goes Riverdale in hilariously dark Tonight Show spoof

The Archie universe is one of the most creatively flexible and tonally varied. The gang has met Gotham City’s worst, Sharknadoes, and trophy-hunting alien Predators. Now they’ve found another comic world to bump into, thanks to Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show: that of Charlie Brown and Peanuts.

In a parody video, which you can watch below, Riverdale cast members KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and Cole Sprouse show up as the crime-solving Peanuts crew is breaking it down like the end of a holiday special.

Their incredulity is funny in its own right, but the spot-on jabs at Riverdale (a sordid relationship between a student and a trombone-voiced teacher, the tragic song-inspiring death of Linus van Pelt) make the parody worth checking out for fans of the show. Or if you're just fans of funny stuff.

Jimmy Fallon’s gritty, sexy Charlie Brown alone will never let you read the comic the same way again, nor allow you to look at Apa’s Archie without having some Charles Schulz flashbacks.
