Agent Carter is here, and she's ready to go to work.
We've seen a good bit of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) already this year. She showed up in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, made a brief appearance during a flashback in the season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and kicked ass in the (very short) first trailer for her upcoming ABC series. That doesn't mean we don't welcome seeing more of her, though, and last night Marvel gave it to us during its 75th-anniversary special on ABC.
This time we got not just a trailer, but a two-and-a-half-minute clip featuring Carter, Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) and Stark's butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy). The footage gives us not only a better idea of the interplay among these characters and the overall tone of the show, but a mission that could carry through the entire season. It seems some of Stark's scientific "babies" have been let loose on the world, and Carter and Stark have to get them in check before they can begin to wreak havoc.
Check out the clip below:
The mission is vague but intriguing, and it could take the show to some very cool places. What struck me most, though, was the interplay between Carter and Jarvis, who's apparently already made the mistake of taking Peggy by surprise and felt the wrath of her combat skills. The fight scene at the end is fun, too, but my favorite Peggy Carter character moment might be opting for the front seat of the car when Jarvis is trying to offer her the back. We know right away who's in charge of this show.
Agent Carter arrives on ABC in January.
