Keep a weather eye open and peer into these official new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales pics from Walt Disney Pictures, brimming with a chestful of ghost pirates, Spanish galleons, zombie sharks, undead sea captains, jolly Jack Sparrow ... both young and older, and a shrunken ship in a bottle.

As we dissected from the last trailer, this fifth cinematic outing contains a bit of Jack Sparrow's origins as a young pirate trying to outrun Javier Bardem's dashing Armando Salazar, whose encounter with the clever captain leads to his death in a rocky cove. This results in Salazar's frightful ghost trying to enact revenge against Sparrow and enlisting the help of his old nemesis Hector Barbossa.

What's absent from Disney's big batch of fresh images is Carina Smyth, the female astronomer who is in possession of a map which might lead to the mystical Trident of Poseidon. Another omission is any shots of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner, the new phantom captain of the Flying Dutchman.

A pair of amusing new images are those of the pirate ship in a bottle, and from its sail configuration and main mast-mounted flag, appears to be the Black Pearl, which, if you recall from 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was magically captured into the glass container by Blackbeard.

It seems $300 million is what it takes to mount a colossal tentpole blockbuster these days and Pirates 5 had some deep Disney pockets to draw from for its bank-busting budget, which just dropped another third of a billion to make the live-action Beauty and the Beast. Now you know where all the profits from those $6 Main Street cookies and $7 Mickey ice cream sandwiches at Disneyland are going to.

Walk the plank out to the official Disney synopsis and beware of Davy Jones' locker below:

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all new Pirates movie. The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitiful small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.

I'm really rooting for this rousing property to get back on track after the dismal fourth voyage, On Stranger Tides, and feel all the elements are in place for a return to prominence amid all the other studio comic-book and toy line mega-franchises.
