ABC's The River embraced its inner Paranormal Activity last night with a two-hour, two-episode "event" that had modest ratings and mixed reviews.
The reviews ranged from the good—"The River is a terrifying heart-stopper, a cleverly cinematic supernatural adventure that takes us on a wild ride into an exotic heart of darkness"—to the middling—"The River isn't terrible, and it actually has some effective elements, but it's fairly indicative of ABC's post-Lost flailing"—to the decidedly not good—"The mixture of Lost storytelling and Paranormal style is neither intriguing nor particularly scary."
One thing was very apparent, though. Reviewers saw as much Lost as they did Paranormal Activity in The River.
But what did you think? Did The River live up to the hype?
