“I guess you guys haven’t heard about me, have you?” Ahead of the comic book series’ premiere on Netflix in a little over month, Marvel has unleashed the first clip for Luke Cage.
Starring Mike Colter (The Good Wife) in the title role, the clip features Power Man showing off his impressive superstrength and indestructible skin to a bunch of mean Harlem thugs, who totally deserve what's coming to them.
The character of Luke Cage was first introduced in Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones late last year (it starred Krysten Ritter in the role of the superheroine and a deliciously evil David Tennant as Kilgrave) before toplining his own series. Even though Luke Cage takes place in New York City like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, our Hero for Hire will take his heroics to Harlem rather than Hell’s Kitchen.
Check out the first clip below, and let us know what you guys think:
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Luke Cage also stars Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard and Erik LaRay Harvey as Diamondback, and Rosario Dawson will return as Claire Temple.
The Marvel TV series is set to premiere on Sept. 30 on Netflix.
