The second season finale of Preacher left Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) in a very dark place, and that’s really saying something for this show! In addition to the apparent loss of his Genesis imbued Voice of God and the piece of his soul being held hostage by Herr Starr (Pip Torrens), Jesse’s lover, Tulip (Ruth Negga), was fatally injured. To save Tulip’s life and possibly her soul, Jesse prevented Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) from turning her into a vampire. Instead, Jesse let Tulip die in the hope that his grandmother could resurrect her. And that means Jesse is going home to Angelville.

AMC has released a new teaser for Preacher Season 3, which catches up with most of the main characters while offering up the first glimpse of the new players.

Let’s see if we can break down that teaser even further. Here’s the assembled image of the Season 3 cast members.

On the left side of the pic, the guy who looks like he escaped from Interview With the Vampire is Eccarius (Adam Croasdell), a relatively young vampire who plays into all of the tropes about the undead and leads a small cult in New Orleans. Directly below Eccarius are T.C. (Colin Cunningham) and Jody (Jeremy Childs), two of Angelville’s enforcers who are decidedly unfriendly with Jesse.

Over on the right side, directly beneath Cassidy, is Marie L'Angelle (Betty Buckley), Jesse’s grandmother and the woman who ordered his torture as a child. Don’t let her frail appearance fool you. "Gran'ma" is pure malevolence, and far more deadly than she initially seems. To her left, we see Allfather D'Aronique (Jonny Coyne), the gargantuan religious leader who looks remarkably like his comic book counterpart. He is also the leader of the Grail, and an obstacle to Herr Starr's ambitions within the organization and the world.

Directly above the Allfather, it looks like Adolf Hitler (Noah Taylor) took a retail job after his escape from Hell. But he didn’t bother to significantly change his appearance. That may allow Eugene (Ian Coletti) to reunite with his alleged “friend.”

Preacher Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, June 24.
