Even with filming already underway, we're still getting some casting news about The Predator. And this bit is pretty awesome.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Edward James Olmos has been tapped for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming sci-fi/action film from director Shane Black. Black, who co-starred in the original Predator, co-wrote the script for the new one with Fred Dekker (RoboCop 3). Olmos joins a cast that includes Boyd Holbrook, Jake Busey, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Augusto Aguilera, Keegan-Michael Key and Yvonne Strahovski.

Olmos will play a currently unnamed military commander -- which won’t be a first for the veteran actor, since Olmos portrayed Admiral William Adama on Ron D. Moore’s reboot of Battlestar Galactica from 2005-2009. Olmos will also appear later this year in Blade Runner 2049, where he reprises the role of Gaff from Ridley Scott’s original 1982 movie.

The R-rated film will be set in the suburbs where unsuspecting humans are being hunted by the deadly alien, with rumors flying that it will feature a genetically enhanced Predator. Now, whether that last bit is true remains to be seen, but it would definitely put a fresh spin on the badass alien hunter.

The Predator will open in theaters on Feb. 9, 2018. Are you excited about Edward James Olmos joining the cast?
