Kids today have it so easy. When I was a kid, if you wanted to visit scenes from your favorite sci-fi and fantasy films, you had to build them youself out of cardboard boxes and bits of string you found on your 10-mile, uphill-both-ways hike to school. Nowadays, all it takes is a trip to Orlando, where the people at Universal's theme parks are just building highly detailed locations straight out of your dreams.
Grumpy-old-man-ism aside, it really is impressive what's going on with the new Diagon Alley attraction at Universal Orlando. The iconic location from the Harry Potter universe is being meticulously re-created, and promises to make muggles of all ages feel like they've been transported into J.K. Rowling's magical world. We wanted to see what that was about, so we sent Battlestar Galactica's Nicki Clyne to Florida for a look at what's to come from Diagon Alley and some quality time with Harry Potter film stars like Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Matthew Smith, (Nevill Longbottom), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) and Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick, among others).
Check out a preview below, and come back Friday, June 27, for the full feature.
