Harcourt Fenton “Harry” Mudd is slated to make more than one appearance on Star Trek: Discovery when the CBS All Access series beams aboard our TV screens later this year.

According to the July issue of the official Star Trek Magazine (via the good folks at Trek Movie), Harry Mudd (played by The Office alum Rainn Wilson in the Star Trek prequel) will be in “multiple” episodes during the first season of the new series. If one takes a quick look at Discovery’s IMDb page (so, grain of salt), the actor is listed to appear in nine episodes out of the show’s 15. How awesome is that?

A con man who crossed the path of the U.S.S. Enterprise during a handful of memorable episodes, Harry Mudd (played by Roger C. Carmel) made his debut in the Star Trek: TOS Season 1 episode titled “Mudd’s Women,” where he was engaged in the traffic of “mail order” space brides. He returned during the show’s second season in “I, Mudd,” where the fan favorite was now the ruler of a planet of androids who captures the Enterprise in the hopes of exacting revenge on Kirk (William Shatner). Mudd also appeared in the Star Trek animated series in “Mudd’s Passion.”

As Trek Movie points out, Harry Mudd’s appearance on Discovery doesn’t affect the official canon in regard to the character, since by the time he first encountered the crew of the Enterprise, he already had a reputation and a bit of a criminal record. What do you think of Rainn Wilson making several appearances as Harry Mudd on Star Trek: Discovery?
