We may be in a Golden Age of sorts for wonderful, diverse comics, but it's not all capes and rainbows. You know what we're really missing? A great sword & sorcery comic about a legendary medieval warrior... and his whiny son.

The creative team behind Z2 Comics' Allen, Son of Hellcock -- Will Tracy (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver), Gabe Koplowitz (Viceland) and cartoonist Miguel Porto -- meant fill that gap with a side-splitting sendup of Conan the Barbarian and other fantasy tales. The story revolves around the world's greatest warrior -- that would be the one they call Hellcock -- encountering the one nemesis he can't easily vanquish: his indifferent son. Family genetics didn't get passed down to Allen, so he has none of his father's fighting spirit or bloodthirsty passion. All he wants to do is be a comic book artist. The series follows Allen as he does his best to stay out of the family business and remain a never-ending source of shame and disappointment to his dad.

Sound ridiculous in the best way possible? Absolutely. And we haven't even talked about Donkeys urinating on medieval hipsters, stylish elves and other absurdities. Z2 published the first issue of the series nearly two years ago. The rest of the story never saw print. Until now.

The entire initial story arc of Allen, Son of Hellcock is being published as a hardcover OGN that goes on sale November 14. Since this is 2017, the comic has a trailer. It's worth watching just for the incredible blurbs from a few folks whose names you may recognize (and they're 100% legit endorsements). Here it is:

the trailer for the upcoming OGN, Allen, Son of Hellcock.

But wait, there's more! If that trailer didn't sell you on the book, then maybe this will: SYFY WIRE has the ENTIRE first issue of Allen, Son of Hellcock for you to peruse. Give it a read, and then tell us what you think in the comments.
