Relive the Westworld Emmys spoof with Stephen Colbert’s raw performance

Sure, we all saw Stephen Colbert get off his loop last night while hosting the 69thEmmy Awards, but now that CBS has released the clip, we get a chance to watch it again and again, on a loop, if you will.

As you can see (possibly too much of) below, Colbert teams up with Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright to deliver what can only be considered one of the late-night host’s finest dramatic performances. Can an Emmy host get an Emmy nomination for a sketch performed during the Emmys?

I don’t know, but I do know that Colbert goes toe to toe, comedically and dramatically (as a good spoof requires), with Wright, who’s got a Golden Globe award to show for his own acting chops. So we expect as much from Wright, but Colbert certainly surprises with every well-timed tic and subtle response to Wright resurrecting his Bernard Lowe character, the man in charge of keeping Westworld’s robotic, primal-fantasy-feeding “hosts” on line.

It’s certainly safe to say that Colbert lets it all hang out in this one. Do you think they should let him into the amusement park for Season 2?
